The Nine Hells of Baator is the home of the devils and a plane that embodies evil. It is a plane of sinister wickedness and institutional cruelty, its denizens organised into a strict caste system with a very rigid chain of command. Each of the nine Hells has its own physical laws or properties of matter, but all are inhospitable or deadly to outsiders.
The Nine Hells are ruled by the Archdevil Asmodeus, with each of the hells being governed by various archdevils.
