Kashommzar
Kashommzar is the drow city-state located deep in The Underdark. The city covers an area of approximately 57 square kilometres, with a total population of 11 thousand.
Government
Kashommzar is governed primarily by House Yunvra, and has been for as long as any living drow can remember. The Matron Mother of House Yunvra also holds the position of Grand Matriarch of Kashommzar, and has final say in any decisions affecting the city or its citizens. The governing of the city is assisted by the other noble drow houses, though they hold less sway than House Yunvra.
History
From the city's founding up until an unknown point in the Age of Light, Kashommzar was ruled by House Aleantlar. House Aleantlar were then usurped by House Yunvra, with the aid of the other noble houses, and exiled from the city.
In 118 T.I., the Yunvra homestead in the upper region of the city was attacked by members of House Aleantlar. Although House Yunvra were able to repel the attackers, it was with great cost that they did so, when the Matron Mother of the House sacrificed herself in order to defeat these attackers.
In 326 T.I., the city experienced an uprising of enslaved duergar. The noble houses of the city banded together in order to squash this threat, as none of them were able to tackle the problem individually.
In 392 T.I., the city was besieged by illithid who had risen up from the depths of the Underdark. However, the illithid siege was combated by the seven sorcerers of House Yunvra. They used their powerful magic to shield the minds of the citizens from the mind flayers, and the invading force was defeated.
