Hieros (Hear-ros)

Hieros is known as the Grand Architect of the Multiverse, though he did not draw the blueprints. Revered across the planes, he embodies the measurement and preservation of time, but oddly not its creation. While the Sourcewell is credited with establishing causality, birthing the aeons, and giving the Evergates their current, Hieros is one of the few beings capable of commanding these forces, though not even he understands why. His divinity is defined by this paradox. Hieros is not omniscient nor does he pretend to be, yet he is the Multiverse’s most relentless student. For Hieros, ignorance is impetus. To mortals, he is proof that order exists, even if it cannot be understood. He values the purpose in that which he creates, but in seeking his own purpose, he remains uncertain—endlessly reading and rewriting reality in pursuit of answers even gods cannot find.

Divine Realm

The plane of Delta may be the closest thing to a reflection of Hieros' divine mind. Whether he created Delta or merely inherited it remains unknown, even to the god himself if one were to ask him. He studies Delta like a problem with no solution, endlessly fascinated by its uncontrolled evolution. Rather than conquer the chaos, he watches what emerges from it, intervening only through his inevitables. To Hieros, Delta is a living experiment in systemic interaction, a proving ground for models of order imposed upon entropy. Its architecture, metaphysics, and politics are data—everything from the migration of mortals and petitioners to the emergent behavior of semi-stable districts. Time moves erratically in parts of Delta, by design or accident, and the Evergates serve as points of comparison in Hieros’ obsessive cartography of reality. His throne in Delta is not a chair but a chamber—a suspended atrium of orreries, lenses, shifting chronoglyphs, and sealed aeon-coils where he reviews and cross-indexes the history of the Multiverse.

Tenets of Faith

  • Knowledge is not wisdom unless it is verified. Never trust tradition, memory, or intuition without evidence.
  •
  • Order must account for complexity without erasing it. Laws should adapt, not impose.
  •
  • Destinies are patterns awaiting interpretation. It is right to question your fate, to act in defiance of your expected outcome, so long as you learn from the result.

Worshipers

Hieros' faithful are archivists, mathematicians, planar cartographers, inevitables, and seekers of lost truths. Some are temporal engineers who work to correct paradoxes; others are portal-mages who map, stabilize, or exploit the Evergates. Hieros demands inquiry of his priests; a priest who stops asking questions has already left the faith. His worship is particularly common among the inevitables—who may not worship in the traditional sense, but operate by axioms Hieros authored. His temples are built in intersections and crossroads—border zones, liminal places, ruined cities, or convergence points of dimensional instability. The greatest of these are found in Delta, often located in shifting districts or integrated into the city’s transport grid.
