Delta

For more information on all planes, see: Planes & The Multiverse

Delta is a sprawling junction where multiple Evergates converge, forming a chaotic metropolis of overlapping planes and possibilities. A hub of interplanar connection, it is a place of seamless borders where districts blend in a cityscape of impossible architecture. From celestial spires to demonic alleys, Delta offers refuge and opportunity to travelers, merchants, and adventurers from across the Multiverse.

Physical Description

Maintained by the neutral aeons, Delta is a rare sanctuary where enemies may share the same tavern, and rivals may find temporary respite. Within the city limits, there are no true boundaries—its constantly shifting landscape houses denizens from all realities, fostering diplomacy, commerce, and sometimes even temporary peace between enemies. The streets are crowded with buildings that squeeze over each other with very small living spaces. New buildings, courtyards, and streets are constantly being built, endlessly changing the city’s landscape.

The only way in or out of Delta is via the innumerable Evergates that connect to it. These Evergates form an intricate network that weaves through the streets and divides Delta’s districts. Much of the city’s transportation relies on waterways, with vessels navigating the Evergates to ferry passengers across the sprawling metropolis. However, this method of travel is not without peril. Pilots must navigate specialized antimagical boats, as any Evergate could lead to another plane or an unpredictable point within Delta itself. Furthermore, these channels can be permanent or temporary, linking to fixed or shifting locations. Thus, Delta touches all planes at once, yet ultimately belongs to none. It is for this reason that Delta is known as the City of Gates, for the sheer number of converging Evergates.

Government & Law

All of Delta’s denizens quickly grow accustomed to the constant presence of the aeons—enigmatic caretakers that rarely engage with the city’s inhabitants or travelers unless absolutely necessary or if provoked. Wise locals avoid antagonizing them, as doing so often results in swift, fatal ejection into the Multiverse. While the aeons enforce a strict ban on large-scale conflict, they remain indifferent to lesser crimes like theft or murder, leaving Delta far from peaceful. Their focus lies on safeguarding the city itself, addressing only threats that endanger its existence or those who incur their wrath. The aeons ceaselessly repair and reshape Delta, dismantling one structure to rebuild another, suggesting an understanding of the city’s true purpose that no one else possesses. Many believe they serve a hidden master, though no evidence confirms the existence of such a ruler. This hands-off approach fosters an undercurrent of lawlessness, leaving the city teetering on the edge of anarchy.

Inhabitants

Although Delta has no known native species or races, members of all intelligent species can be found here meeting in dead magic zones, trading goods, or traveling between planes, often in service to the higher powers. All manner of demons, devils, celestials, and more can be found here.
