The Imperium Academia

Ancient Origins:

Long before the Krelyrian Empire was born, a collection of young mages came together with each of them being masters of their own school of magic: Abjuration, Conjuration, Divination, Enchantment, Evocation, Illusion, Necromancy, and Transmutation. These 8 young scholars of arcana came became the first 8 Magisters and founded the Imperium Academia, which at the time was a small library fortress for the preservation of knowledge and magic. As time wore on over the decades and centuries, the Scholars they taught rose up and took their places and came to be called Magisters themselves. Since then the title Magister is a title bestowed upon the most prestigious of Scholars, with these new Magsiters came new locations and branches of the Imperium Academia spread out through out the southern territories of the continent. Creating a pseudo-quasi-body of government within these branches and main campus, though they wielded no power outside of its libraries.

Under the Krelyrian Empire:

With the rise of the Empire, the Imperium Academia was swallowed up in it and became one of its cornerstones. Under the new rule, the purpose of the Imperium Academia became not to teach and master the various schools of magic of the continent. But to hoard, collect, secure, steal, and protect various forms magic of all sorts. This collection included but limited to magical artifacts, armors, weapons, books, scrolls, tomes, tablets, keys, and treasures of all kind. The practice and mastery of said magicks was deemed illegal and frowned upon by the regime of the Krelyrian Empire; only the Initiates, Scholars, and Magisters could handles such materials with permission from the King. However, some of the more secretive members practiced Wizardry, mastered their inherent Sorcery, honed their Ki as Monks, and sold/loss their souls as Warlocks within the marbled walls of the branches and main campus.

The Artificers of the Warforged:

Towards the final days of the official Krelyrian Empire and under the direction and counsel of the King himself, the more talented and enterprising gnomes and men of the Imperium Academia done something no other school of magic has ever before attained: They created a soul. Then they took that soul and trapped it within arcano-mechanical contraptions and dubbed them "Warforged". They created hundreds of beings in various shapes and sizes to provide a variety of uses in the King's war efforts with the Canaan Empire to the north.

Today:

It's current standing since the end of the War and the fall of the Krelyrian Empire is unknown.

Structure

First and foremost, at the head is the main campus. Which is where the first 8 Magisters came together and built the original fortress. From there new branches were created every few years or so throughout the southern regions of the continent. Each branch was headed by at least one or more Magister and these Magisters answered to the main campus, and the main campus was overseen by at least 8 or more Magisters.

Culture

Initially the culture of the IA was to be a place of learning and knowledge, but with the rise of the Empire there was a culture shift as the IA became dedicated to hoarding magic of all kind within its walls.

Public Agenda

Prior to, interim, and after the fall of the Krelyrian Empire the IA was a place of secrets and mystery. No matter the decade or century, the IA was feared by all outsiders as a place of "wickedness" and "danger". Though to those who served within its walls at all branches and the main campus, it was a place that felt like family and home.

Assets

Initially the IA made very little money was a nonprofit school and library, but the rise of the Krelyrian Empire and funding from the King's treasury. The IA knew nothing of poverty and want, so long as the organization served the King's agenda and wishes. Today its assets only include the hoards within its walls.

History

The history of the Imperium Academy is long, ancient, and secretive... much of what was known of their past has been forgotten or hidden.

Demography and Population

It is unclear in total how many Initiates, Scholars, or Magisters there are in total. They have always been secretive about their numbers and much of their activities.

Territories

They have no true territory outside of the walls of the Main Campus (Citadel) and the Satellite Campuses (Library Branches).

Military

They had no military force themselves, save the army they created for the Krelyrian Empire.

Technological Level

The Artificers of the Imperium Academia were at the forefront in Golems and Clockwork beings... which inevitably lead to the creation of the Warforged.

Religion

They held no particular Religion, but if there were any Clerics in the the Imperium Academia they would've likely worshipped Deities of Arcana or Knowledge.

Foreign Relations

They have no official foreign relations, everything goes through the Krelyrian Empire these days.

Agriculture & Industry

As far as industry is concerned, the only thing they physically produced for the Empire was the Warforged.

Trade & Transport

Transport is minimal for the adventuring Scholars of the Imperium Academia, they give them an allowance and send them on their way. They were encouraged to not return to the Main Campus (Citadel) or one of the Satellite Campuses (Branch Libraries) empty handed, so many spent extended periods of time out in the field... some never returned.

Education

The Imperium Academia specializes in education, all its members from the lowliest of Initiates to the greatest of Magisters receives the greatest education possible. At the main campus there is a formal school ranging from primary, secondary, and beyond. There is no better education supposedly in Krelyra better than within the walls of the IA, but they are very selective in who they admit and teach.

Infrastructure

All the infrastructure of the IA is found within walls of the the Main Campus (Citadel) and the Branch Libraries, beyond the walls of those buildings the IA has no power.
