The Story of Jakob
Warren, Querth, & Torvald
646 Post Maelstrom
Querth, Warren, and Torvald arrive in The Serene Gardens independently from each other at the behest of the ruler of the city, Czar Alekzander.
They gather to attend a secret meeting with the Czar to discuss a top-secret job. The task at hand is to break into an imperial outpost and rescue his ‘little brother’, Jakob, who is being held prisoner. This upset one of the attendants who turned out to be an imperial loyalist. The situation was defused without bloodshed. The Czar decided to hire the main group for the mission.
Warren and Querth hired an airship for travel across the gap. While Torvald met with the blacksmith for an upgrade and then stopped by a strange shop called The Garden Path. The mysterious herbalist that ran the shop had some potions, but she choose which ones to sell. The rest of the night was uneventful.
In the morning they headed for the airfield. On the road there they encountered the imperial loyalist leading some guards. They slipped away after a short brawl with a couple of the guards. Upon arriving at the airfield station Warren creates a distraction and they are able to sneak in. The safely make it to the airship and board.
While flying over the Gap they are intercepted by a Vulanti Airship, an Imperial Galleon - Airship. They search the ship nearly discovering Querth, but with some quick talking he is able to slip away.
They land in the City of Camador across the Gap.
They pickup horses while here. While waiting for the horses Torvald goes to a tavern and finds out from the barkeep that since the imperials aren’t allowed in the city, they’ve built fortifications outside the gates.
After picking up the horses and getting a good view of the imperial camp from a clocktower the team slips out of the city. They are able to talk their way through the imperial guards at the outer gates. They are home free on the highway now travelling at night.
They slip through another imperial checkpoint with ease.
They met up with a group of rebels who also want to free Jakob so they decide to join forces. They hitch their horses next to the rebel’s small airship and continue to Stonewatch on foot with the rebel group.
They arrive at the outpost in the early morning. Querth, Warren, and Torvald agree to create a distraction while the rebels sneak in to rescue their prisoners and Jakob. A fight breaks out with the imperials and the group has to fight them off. After winning the day they meet back up with the rebels.
The rebels were able to rescue their prisoners, but couldn’t find Jakob.
They group searches around and finds the building where Jakob is being held. After taking out the guards and entering the truth of Jakobs heritage is revealed. Jakob is actually the heir to the throne in the Serene Gardens, and an imperial supporter, with Alexander being a usurper. Alexander wanted custody of Jakob to execute him to fully seize power for the rebels. The group was actually hired to be a distraction.
The group fights the rebel soldiers off before they can get to Jakob. By the time they do though the Imperial troops are closing in on them. Unsure of what they should do Torvald and Querth decide to kill Jakob while Warren leaves in disgust at their actions.
Querth goes into Jakobs room and kills him while Torvald loots the rebel troops. After exiting Jakobs room, weapon bloodied, Querth finds Torvald missing. Torvald broke and ran hearing the imperial horns closing in.
Querth attempted to escape, but was delayed and the imperials caught up with him before he could escape Stonewatch. Rather than being taken prisoner he falls on his own axe attempting to kill himself and blacks out.
Epilogue
Querth awakens being put in chains. The Imperials reached his body in time and healed him before he could bleed out. He is now locked the Imperial prison, Shatterguard.
Torvald escapes Stonewatch on foot and ends up on the coast of the Course Sea after fleeing the Grand Army of the Empire. He is picked up by a pirate crew and ends up at the Shipwreck Citadel where he quickly climbs in the ranks.
Warren escaped by disguising himself as an imperial, but got caught up with the troops. He travelled with them until he got a chance to slip off to the far southern land of Udrend. Here he got caught up in a skirmish with Svenjavik raiders and sided with the people of Jindamundra. He now lives and works in Jindamundra as the captain of the guard.
