Isolone Village

The village is set on a slight hill, barely rising out of the muck of the swamp. The size of the hill changes seasonally, widening during the dry season and shrinking during the wet. This village is little more than a traveler's rest stop along the Spine with much of the permanently dry land being used for official buildings, stabling, and inns, while the homes and shops are set on stilts on the edges of the hill.

Government

Isolone is one of the few towns along the Spine that are not large enough to have a direct Moonstream ruler. The town instead reports to the rulers of Kinetas.

Notable Individuals and Locations

Oskar Ernenus

The human mayor of Isolone Village.

Defences

There is a small standing guard that mostly keeps watch to scare intruders and invading creatures from approaching the town, but they do not travel the Spine itself.

Notable Individuals and Locations

Industry & Trade

The town's trade is largely in travel, whether cart and carriage repairs, mount feed, inns, taverns, or prepared food. All food is imported from Landharbor or Kinetas . There are no farms in the swamp.

History

Isolone Village is as old as the Spine itself. It was a single inn on the hill, a place of respite for people traveling up and down Ascus. That particular inn no longer stands after centuries of growth and political change, but the tradition of being a safe place to rest in the center of the swamp remains.

Notable Individuals and Locations

Architecture

The buildings in the swamp tend to be made of wood despite the high chance of rot. The buildings are constantly being checked for mold, cleaned, and partially replaced as necessary. Stone is too heavy for the soft ground, though there are several places where stone anchors the wooden stilts of the buildings.
