Schisi
The Schisi are a hyperintelligent alien race native to Schis. They are renowned throughout Eastspace for their advanced intellect, ability to adapt to extreme environments, and unparalleled contributions to knowledge and magic.
For millennia, the Schisi have lived a reclusive existence, developing highly advanced technologies—including space travel—long before other civilizations, such as those on Illon. Despite this, they remain completely isolationist, devoting their efforts to preserving knowledge in the Library of Schis, a testament to their cultural priorities of wisdom and understanding.

Culture
Shared customary codes and values
The Schisi value knowledge, innovation, and harmony above all else. They abide by a collective code known as the Luminal Accord, which dictates the pursuit of truth, the protection of the natural world, and the ethical use of magic and technology. Lying or withholding knowledge is one of the gravest offenses in Schisi society.
Average technological level
The Schisi achieved space travel millennia ago, developing advanced propulsion systems and energy harnessing technologies. However, their isolationist philosophy has kept them from interfering in the affairs of other civilizations.
Common Dress code
On Schis, the Schisi rarely wear clothing, as their translucent skin and photosynthetic abilities require direct exposure to sunlight. However, when traveling to colder worlds, they wrap their bodies in thermal bandages, thin yet highly efficient garments that trap heat without hindering their mobility or fully covering their skin.
Foods & Cuisine
The Schisi do not consume food in the traditional sense. Instead, they derive sustenance through photosynthesis, absorbing sunlight directly through their skin. During prolonged periods without sunlight, they supplement their energy by consuming a nectar-like substance extracted from the roots of the planet’s Sandstalkers.
Birth & Baptismal Rites
Newborn Schisi are ceremonially presented to the first rays of Zed at dawn. This ritual, known as the First Luminance, symbolizes the newborn’s bond with their home planet and its sun. Family members etch a glowing glyph onto a crystal shard, which is kept as a lifelong token of the ceremony.
Coming of Age Rites
At maturity, a young Schisi undertakes a journey to contribute a piece of knowledge or innovation to the Library of Schis. This could be a new discovery, a written account of personal experiences, or an artifact of significance. Completing this rite earns the individual their Glyph of Ascension, a second sigil carved onto the crystal they received during their First Luminance.
Ideals
Gender Ideals
The Schisi have a nonbinary understanding of gender, shaped by their focus on intellect and individual contribution over biological roles. While gender distinctions exist, they are fluid, with emphasis placed on personal achievements and one's dedication to preserving and advancing knowledge.
Courtship Ideals
Courtship among the Schisi revolves around shared intellectual pursuits. It is common for potential partners to collaborate on research or artistic endeavors as a means of bonding. Relationships are often egalitarian, based on mutual respect and intellectual compatibility. The exchange of rare crystals or ancient knowledge is a customary act of deep affection.
