Temple of the Tides

The Temple of the Tides is one of the most renowned buildings in all of Illios, and stands as a firm reminder of Dimo's blessing on Cadanval.

Purpose / Function

A great place of worship for the patron God of Cadanval. The Temple of the Tides is the largest temple soley dedicated to Dimo on the continent.

Architecture

Massive temple with a central dome shaped roof, and 4 pointed towers. Adorned with many symbols of Dimo, Statues of Dimo wielding his Trident. As with the rest of Cadanval the Temple of the Tides is filled with various water features.   The central chamber, with the domed roof, is 3 and a half stories tall. A great statue of Dimo with an artificial Waterfall behind it takes up the largest portion of this room and is where worshippers are able to pray, the Waterfall flows out of the bottom of the dome behind the statue of Dimo. At the base of the statue is a large pool with many fish. The second floor and third floors of the central chamber is a large wrap around balcony encircling the statue.   The Towers rise to be 5 stories tall (70ft)   The temple is built facing the North, towards the Bright Bay, the north east tower is the library, the north west tower is the restricted library, The south west tower is the living quarters, and the south east tower is reserved for the Bishop.   The Entrance to the Temple of the Tides is a pair of 20 foot tall dark wood doors, the golden inlays in the doors depict two crossed tridents, with the Symbol of Dimo in front of this intersection, at the seam of the two doors.

Defenses

The two dark wood doors have been magically reinforced. the Temple itself is made entirely out of stone.

History

The Temple of the Tides is the largest temple to Dimo on the continent. Construction began in SF 690 but would not be completed until 702.

Tourism

Many of Dimo's faithful make a journey to the Temple of the Tides.
