Waning Rift

A Place of Power, the Waning Rift is the cause of the maelstrom that blankets the area and draws in the arcane energy that surrounds it. If the Heart of History, also known as Hellfire Gorge is where the Leylines converge, this is where they are wrought asunder. As one nears the rift itself strange manifestations begin to appear, heading outwards with unknown intent.
The Waning Rift was once sealed, but the Elf empire ripped up the Orichalcum core of the Place of Power and displaced the Genasi clans that lived there. The Orcichalum and Spellstone infused islands now float elsewhere
