Kagamiwari

DRAFT - edit for clarity, flow, syntax and subarticles   SMASH   "YAY" come a cheer from the crowd. The village had gathered for the much anticipated wedding of Carl and Yuki. Since the time Yuki was born, the local shaman proclaimed she would have a special course through her life.   The Shaman's eye twinkled when Carl arrived on the island, washed up on shore after a great typhoon.   Carl couldn't recall much. He couldn't speak their language, still can't very well, 5yo in the village can speak better than him, but he got along great and has been an instrumental part of the village.   With the traditional Kagamiwari performed, Shaman ""Prucsilla"" could finally relax.   The tradition of Kagamiwari is considered old fashioned by many in the Islands, only practiced more as a spectacle for the 'Old Folks' who are in attendance for nostalgia.   As time progress, it was replaced, or reallocated to opening of sake barrels and renamed as "Kagami-baraki". This ceremony came about when ::: subarticle marker :::     Of course, most people would rather drink at great ceremonies or events then simply break a mirror, but ""Pruscilla"" knew better. The breaking of the mirror is significant.   'Well, Shaman, how does it look now' asked Leader Yagi. 'all is good now. with that done, the future is solidified and only the Gods can alter the course.' 'I hope that's good news.' 'yes yes, many favorable harvests for our future, many safe nights and explorations for us as well.' ""Pruscilla"" had seen both sides of the mirror, if things didn't go just right, death and destruction were sure to befall this village along the east coast of the Islands. this side was particularly exposed to the open ocean and the storms that would blow over or would remain off shore and just churn for days. I'm Yagi's shoulders slumped. he had never imagined the village without her. Shaman had been here since his mother was born, and now he had grandchildren. nobody actually knew how old she was, even the eldest in the nearby village said Shaman was here when she was born. 'what will we do?' he said, a little more pleadingly then he intended, but she'd be able to tell if he tried masking his feelings anyway. 'oh, this place will be fine.' she looked up at him, 'you'll be fine. you're past needing my council anymore. you've been past that for many many years. all I've been doing is telling you what you already know is right, because it is the right decision.' she looks back to the gathering and the sea. 'this place is just right. there will be a storm in a few years, but you'll persevere. maybe a roof or tow will be damaged, but everyone will be okay. beyond that I can't see, so its time for me to move on.' 'when will you leave?' he asked, reserved and knowing inside that one day this would come, but he had grown so used to her being around. it was going to feel strange. 'soon I think.' she smiled ' probably going to take one of the night airships. I don't know exactly when it will be, its a feeling.' he knew that meant there'd be no solid answer so he would have to start planning now if they wanted to throw a party for her. 'no production or anything please,' as if she was reading his mind, which was entirely possible. 'I'll go in due time. bring me a piece of the mirror from the Kagamiwari please, just a little sliver is all I need.' 'yes ma'am,' he said and went to go retrieve a piece from the wrapping. he walked over to where they had broken the mirror for the ceremony and picked up the wrapping/bag? off the table where it sat. he opened it and could have sworn he glimpsed her face in the shard he picked up. when he turned with the mirror shard to take it back to her, she was gone.
