Ryukyuri People

The Ryukyuri Island People are a unique regional group of indigenous peoples. It is thought they are an amalgamation of proto-humans that were first created when the gods first arrived on Kudakari Island, and other humans who traveled and began living on the islands.   Regionally the Ryui Peoples are considered peaceful and possibly easily taken advantage, but if it comes to defending their way of life and others that reside on their islands, they can switch to a ruthlessness rarely experienced. Having experienced years of multiple wars and then the loss of most of the original population during multiple front war called the Red Ridge Conflict of Toshi709, they prefer to stay within their island realm and other than long distance exploration, trade and schooling are usually content to live within the kingdom all of their life.   The Ryui Peoples have a unique language simply called Ryui, but are versed in languages of the surrounding areas especially those of the Merchant Guild. Those within the Magic Guild continue to practice and use the Kudakari language for spells as it is believed to be the first language spoken within the Kingdom.   However, when the Ryui have attempted expansion beyond their realm even just in establishing merchant businesses, they have under gone persecution and exclusion as those of the surrounding areas consider them uneducated and aloof, not knowing that the Ryui are the most in tuned with nature on the planet and are able to not only communicate with creatures within the realm, but as mentioned before Onarigami , can converse and possibly travel within the spirit realms. The Ryui rarely exhibit this ability outside their realms as they have been accused of black magic and witchery by some surrounding areas at times.   Probably the hardest part of the Ryui is with the abilites of females, they have been inadvertently held in a lesser position of authority through what was thought of as protecting them from outsiders, especially when invading barbarians would come and try to kill or kidnap just female from villages. Females have not properly been represented in this culture and have not been able to hold positions of official authority and while it may be changing, there is still internal sexism as well as external cultural sexism. Among the Ryui women are held to with high regard, but outside the kingdom, they are viewed as surrounding cultures view women, as inferior.
