Elendar Jhalavar
A powerful wizard, Elendar trained from a young age after being discovered as having an extreme natural talent. Being sent to a small, elite school, he was taught to control and harness his magic by masters of the craft, few make it through the rigourous program. After graduating, the young wizards are given a task, usually advise and protect a ruler and/or kingdom. Sometimes staying with their assigned lord the entire time, others after their lord dies will stay in the realm in the background to merely oversee the land and keep it in order. This is what befell Elendar.
After the rebellion struck Somerston Key, and the drop-leaf tree was almost destroyed, Elendar took it upon himself to protect the tree and the island. Hiding away in the mountains, he went from a well known and plesant wizard to a gruff recluse, mainly to ward off visitors and keep the precious drop-leaf hidden. The last few decades he has spent his life protecting the tree and trying to grow another from a sapling, something never before done.
Born to a simple couple in a middle class town, Elendar was discovered to be a changling. A rather unusual circumstance surrounding his birth, his family was not expecting him to be magical. Hidden for many generations, on his mothers side they came from line of old faeries, a family that was part of the "Originals" they carried old magic in their blood. Until Elendar however, it never seemed to show since the War of the Divine and they fled, keeping their ancestry a secret.
