Personal history

Born to one of Charlemagne's princes and Fara, a commoner maid.   Fridolin was a production of a 'Friedelehe', or 'love marriage'. That is to say, his parents were never officially married by the church, thus made him a bastard son.    Fridolin was taken into Charlemagne's court at the age of five. He was to be trained as a servant of the court, but only one year later, Fridolin was sent back to his mother. Fridolin only saw his father a few times, and remembered him 'always carry a big lump on his back.'   Fara then sent Fridolin into local monastery school, where he studied Latin. At the age of fifteen, Fridolin was chosen as the most outstanding student of his peers, and was sent to Aachen for further study. In the court of Aachen, Fridolin impressed his grandfather with his skill in Latin, and was appointed a court scribe.   Fridolin then invited his mother Fara into the city while he worked as a scribe. Few years later, Fridolin was assigned a task to finish a book in a tight deadline. He worked day and night and finished the task in time, but at the cost of his good eye sight. Feeling gratitude towards his service at the court, Charlemagne rewarded him a good sum, and allowed him to resign from his court duty. Fridolin moved back to his mother's village, where he courted a childhood friend Bertha, and married her.   At the age of twenty-nine, a plague struck his village. Fridolin's entire family fell to its victims, including himself. At the blink of death, Fridolin was saved by a Lylthian of the Tama clan, feeding him her blood and turning him into a Lylthian. However, it was too late for his family.   Fridolin developed an obsession towards the art of healing ever-since. He embarked on a pilgrimage of learning, wandering the land, studying from professors and pellars alike, even sometimes, executioners. Fridolin dealt with executioners for dead bodies, sometimes, even living persons.    During his stay in Nuremberg, Fridolin occasionally worked as a scribe for book merchants, leaving the name of a mysterious scribe, who worked only at night but ten times faster. But the majority of his time was devoted into his, sometimes questionable, medical studies. On one of the occasions Fridolin was caught grave-robbing, thus was sentenced to hanging. Being a good friend with the city's executioner, Franz Schmidt, Fridolin instructed the executioner to bring along a living animal, cut its throat open and bury the animal with him outside the city wall after sundown.   Three days later, Franz had a eventide visitor, his 'late' friend Fridolin. The former was terrified of course, but Fridolin was able to explain everything, and surprisingly the executioner took in without much difficulty. Fridolin bid farewell to his life-long friend, and fled the city to Italy.   There he settled few years in Venice then the Great Plague outburst, he and Faletian Sylvana-Tilyach worked together to find a cure and succeeded. They managed to spread the cure using the seedpods of cottonwood trees. However, Faletian was accused of using witchcraft, and the two had to flee the city.     When the time came to WWII, Fridolin was approached by an agent of Nazi Germany, Beatrice Hoffmann, who looked exactly like his passed wife Bertha. Being an exile for all his life, Fridolin finally felt respected, belonged and accepted, thus was able to be recruited by the said agent. He led his own laboratory and did some questionable experiments. But eventually Fridolin came to understand that he was just a subject of propaganda and research as well. Beatrice/Bertha and Eolynn were able to remind Fridolin of his good nature, so the doctor was able to wake up the 'Ancient Queen', the Lylthian princess Alinna Innunna, from her crystal coffin, destroying his laboratory in the process and all of them escaped, expect for Beatrice.   Alinna and Fridolin led a group of witches, Faes and Lylthians against the occult force. After the WWII, part of the group returned to the Castle of Ja-Ṣin, founded the Sanctuary and continued to watch over both Realms.
