Tatl
Tatl was Link's Fairy companion in his adventure involving Majora's Mask. Similar to Navi, Tatl assisted Link by allowing him to interact with the environment through targeting certain objects, people, and enemies. Unlike Navi, however, Tatl expressed herself with bell-like noises of varying repetition, whereas Navi shouted several catchphrases such as "Hey!", "Listen!" or "Watch out!" She was also the older sister of Tael.
Prior to the events Link's adventure involving Majora's Mask, Tatl and her brother Tael were flying around Termina Field looking for shelter on a stormy day, when suddenly they find a lonely Skull Kid under a log, shivering.Tatl and her brother soon became close friends with the Skull Kid. When the Skull Kid began to exhibit mischievous behavior, the two fairies decided to follow along. At the beginning of Majora's Mask, they accompanied the Skull Kid, now possessed by the Majora's Mask, to the Lost Woods, where Tatl and Tael startled Link's horse, Epona, causing the young hero to fall unconscious. The Skull Kid then stole Link's Ocarina of Time. When Link awoke, Tatl escaped with Tael and the Skull Kid as they rode away on Epona, heading towards Termina. After the young Hero of Time was transformed into a Deku Scrub, Tatl obstructed his path, preventing him from pursuing the Skull Kid, which led to Tatl's separation from both the Skull Kid and her brother. Initially blaming Link for the turn of events, she eventually decided to become Link's partner to reunite with her brother and prevent the Skull Kid from destroying Termina.
Eventually, Link and Tatl found the Skull Kid atop the Clock Tower, where Tael provided them with a clue on how to stop the Moon. The Skull Kid, however, violently struck Tael for speaking out of line, angering Tatl. When Link retrieved the Ocarina of Time from the Skull Kid and remembered Princess Zelda, Tatl snapped Link out of his trance, scolding the young hero for losing himself in memories as the Moon approached Termina. Link played the "Song of Time" to return to the First Day. From then on, Tatl accompanied Link throughout his adventure, confronting the Skull Kid and playing a role in preventing Termina's impending apocalypse. Once the duo managed to free the Four Giants, Link and Tatl confronted the Skull Kid one last time, successfully halting the Moon's path of destruction by calling upon the almighty deities. Although Tael tried to explain to his sister that the power of Majora's Mask was too great for the Skull Kid to handle, Tatl attributed it to his "weak will and no strength of heart," calling him a "fool." Shortly after, Majora's Mask detached itself from the Skull Kid and traveled to the inside of the moon to possess it and consume Termina, prompting Link to go after it. Tatl initially refused to follow him, wanting to stay with her brother, but when Tael expressed his desire to go, Tatl changed her mind and decided to accompany Link to the moon. Together, the young hero and the fairy ultimately defeated Majora, freeing the Skull Kid from the mask's evil power.
Tatl was last seen during the ending sequence of the game. Just as she rudely told Link to leave and go on his business, as soon as the Hero of Time departed from Termina to search for Navi and part ways from her, Tael and the Skull Kid, Tatl suddenly became emotional and thanked him for helping her in their adventure, causing the tearful fairy to be comforted by her younger brother.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
In contrast to Navi, Tatl was much more tomboyish, frequently expressed her opinions, and played an active role in several cutscenes, particularly when Link confronted the Skull Kid atop the Clock Tower. She was also relatively more informal than Link's previous fairy companion, often speaking to him in a more straightforward manner.
At the beginning of the adventure, Tatl was initially aggressive, blunt, and hostile toward Link, blaming him for her separation from Tael. However, as the adventure progressed, Tatl gradually softened, growing to tolerate his company. By the end of the adventure, she apologized for what happened to his horse and even admitted admiring Link's acts of bravery.
