The Bloodfeather Brush

Paint a story of woes, pen a rhyme of sorrows, compose a song of weeping so I may relieve my own bitterness.
— The Bloodfeather Brush

Appearance

The Bloodfeather Brush is a ink brush in the Kyalian style. Its handle is carved from a pale fragment of bone dug out of the Southern Desert of Riba, designed to be comfortable to use and eerily beautiful.
Its bristles are deep red-violet color (which gives it it's name) and, on close inspection, composed of feather barbules rather than plant fibers or hair.

History

Around 100 years ago from the current date (7590 SE), a Kyalian calligraphy and art supplies manufacturer Akeri Hide was invited to see the scribing done in the library at Sa'kanathrin, a high honor. During the expedition one of the library officials offered a detour to a treasure dig where several sky rock fragments had been uncovered. Eager to procure exotic materials Hide jumped at the opportunity.
At the site, along with various sky rock fragments and shards of naturally formed glass, a portion of some colossal creatures carcass was discovered. For the researchers it was a breakthrough, theories were thrown out, some ancient dragon? A Roc? one brought up the legends stating the deserts origin was from the corpses of beasts slain by the gods but he was shot down. To Hide though it was just a chance to make a profit, and one of his finest works of art yet. And it was, he spent an entire year on the brush once he returned home, stopping and going back to the project over and over.
He loved that brush like it was my younger brother, he talks to it you know...
— Yobu Hide, son of Akeri
Once he finished it the brush was kept in a place of pride along with family antiques to the consternation of his father.
Putting that mummy stick by my fathers helmet and his mothers hairpins! The shame to not sell the thing to secure your status as an expert in the trade.
— Koda Hide, Patriarch of the Hide family
His daughter even complained that it was cursed after using it to pen a letter.
I was just gossiping you know? And the stupid thing starts complaing about me, like a brush has feelings.
— Ayumi Hide, daughter of Akeri
Yet still, the brush stayed there until Akeri's death, when his son sold it for a fancier funeral.
It goes to show how much Akeri loved that brush, it was found that he had gotten it appraised at two years worth of wages and still kept it. Using it for everyday letters and scribblings.   The brush was sold to a well know calligraphy artist, Hiroshi Nobu, renowned for his delicate and refined script. Nobu kept it for the most high profile works, high ranking merchants, lords, and even royalty from around the world commissioned work that was done with that brush. Until one day Nobu started having a servant girl polish his equipment, for he, Hiroshi Nobu, was above such things. Now Nobu was know to be a harsh man, pandering to those with the money and dismissive to those with less. It did not come as a surprise when news came that the servant girl had run off with the brush. No, the surprise came when they couldn't find her, and couldn't find her, and couldn't find her.

Uses

The Bloodfeather Brush is an exquisitely made painting tool that can be used for calligraphy and ink artworks. It is also possessed by a powerful Nimsnomen who calls himself, Akamomo, apparently named by Akeri as the second child he always wanted. If Akamomo desires he may share power with a mortal being causing them to become a warlock. He may revoke this power at anytime and while he cannot move on his own except to return to a predetermined person, he may use his power to attract someone to "rescue" him from the ownership of a person he doesn't like. While being rather old by any mortal standards, his lack of interaction with others has left him somewhat childlike, hibernation apparently preventing him from going insane while stuck buried in the desert. While his adopted father Akeri and his first friend Misa the servant girl turned warlock are past away now Akamomo is still about under the guise of a plain brush.
