Shivi's bolthole
Purpose / Function
Shivi's bolthole is an old city hall that was built into a cliff face during the reign of King Everddyne Northwrought and had served the small town that surrounded it well for many years.
It was later abandoned with the rest of the town after a plague ran its course and there weren't enough survivors left to run it.
Years later a rather abrasive scholar claimed the town hall and several acres around it to live in.
Alterations
While no outstanding alterations were made during its time as a town hall when Shivi moved in she remodeled.
She converted the old archive into her bedroom and put book and display shelves on nearly every wall.
The cellar was expanded into a small cave system and hidden rooms were added to hold some of the stranger items in Shivi's extensive collection.
Architecture
Large wood and brass doors open into the main hall along with a smaller wood and iron door, both are thick and heavy to keep out the weather.
The walls are made of natural stone with wooden platforms, stairs, and railings added throughout to use the space efficiently and the floor is made from stone tiles.
These tiles while cracked with age have been polished with the gaps faithfully filled in and are dark slate grey decorated in pale looping designs.
The Large lanterns and torch holders are made from wrought iron rather than cheaper cast iron and the holes in the walls suggest that it used to be brightly decorated with banners.
History
Everddyne our first King of Menerv's wife had a particular liking for the surrounding town for still debated reasons and would visit relatively frequently leading to the higher then average attention to detail.
The lanterns were made by the local blacksmith of the time and the tiles were painted and glazed by a group of young women as a surprise for the queens next visit.
According to the journal of a local ranger she had been delighted and hired experts to add the platforms along the walls so "No matter how greatly you prosper you may always have the room you need".
