Wastes
Much of the world outside the small communities known as Walls is engulfed by the ruins of the old world simply referred to as the wastes. The Wastes are filled with vile creatures of humankind's design. When those of the old world manipulated the DNA of the natural world they released a cacophony of mutation that rang loud through the globe. Animals devolved producing creatures like the Razorback a beast of pig origin but far larger with tusks the size of swords and skin encased in armor or the VIngus, a carnivorous plant able to move from location to location that uses tentacles to capture its prey.
None, however, are as deadly as man itself. Among the inhabitants of the Wastes, man is feared most. The different groups of lawless are numerous. Maurading gangs of criminals, religious fanatics, slave traders, and those escaping oppression from tyrannical Walls walk the ruins of the old cities.
Geography
most of the ruins a filled with the crumbling buildings and technology of the old world blanketed with the greenery of nature taking back what once belonged to it.
Natural Resources
some people brave the wastes in search of items to salvage, like steel, copper, or mechanical parts.
