Mournful Bay

Mournful Bay the bleak body of water that houses the life blood of one of the most prominent kingdoms in all of the Howllands. The bay serves as the mouth for the Sulking Sea, the southern most sea within the Howllands. Mournful Bay is the prime source of goods for Roadrim and most of the southern kingdoms of the Howllands, its calm waters and fair winds serve as a prime breeding ground for countless sums of fish and other animal life. Not only does the bay provide food for Roadrim but it also acts as am income source for the kingdom due to its trade gate and massive port.

Geography

The beach of the bay is made of crushed shells and fish bones along with a mix of dark beige and grey sand, which bleeds calmly into a knee high grass land. The beach stretches across three sides of the bay with a small hook at the tips of the flanking sides allowing for a small natural partial berm to be made, on this berm stands a large fortification of two thick watchtowers connected in between by a gated wall that fully covers the entire entrance to the bay. The people of Roadrim have come to call this fortification the Sailors Gate, the gate is large enough to allow both military and trade vessels to enter it, but in turn its barred gates are dense enough to repel all but the largest of blockade runner ships, coupled with the tower and wall defenses the gate is extremely hard to breach through by ship. Outside of the shoreline of the bay its main feature is the water, it is a warm brackish water with a constant calm tide and fair breeze over it making it the best place to fish and sail on.

Fauna & Flora

whilst the exterior of the bay may seem like a paradise for sailors and fisherman the creatures of the waters are more like that of nightmares. There is roughly twenty different species of fish within the bay most of which are passive non aggressive fish such as trout, cod, sun fish, and gobbler. But their are others that are almost ruthless in nature a prime example of what the open ocean can hold for ill prepared sailors. The first fish is a species of barracuda roughly five feet in length and weighing in at 76lbs it is the most aggressive fish within the bay
