Horin uses two forms of currency: coins and gems

Coins

Coins are uses for smaller transactions and day to day use. Larger transactions or to transport the same, most folks use gems, as they are worth more per pound of weight. Pearls are used more by banks and such for very large amounts of money, as Pearls are rare due to the hazards of gathering them from the sea. Coins come in various sizes, but they are universally worth about the same. They are printed in 1, 5, and 10 units, to ease the trade of these items, as the different classes of people tend to stay within the type of coin that best suits their average purchase. They also have holes in them to fit into a Clincher.

Gems

Gems are similar to coins, but are all cut the same size and shape. They tend to be flat, with a hole in the center. They will have a convex shape, so that they can be stacked easily, and will usually be locked together with a small device called a Clincher . They are commonly referred to by their colors.
