Vistana eld-Diivmal
Master of the Air, Captain Vistana eld-Diivmal (a.k.a. Cometstar; the White Comet)
Captain Vistana eld-Diivamal is a Qartagonian female white dragonborn wyvernier and the Master of the Air of the Weyr Corps for the Grand Army of the Dragon. Feared across Nioa as the White Comet or Cometscar, Vistana is widely regarded as the most skilled wyvernier of the present day and perhaps the most gifted aerial warrior in the world. Like many Qartagonian soldiers, she has enlisted in the Second Crusade against the Pilgrim States and is currently embedded with the forces of Sultana Safaar Qosaariya eld-Sadek outside Jeharoa.
Vistana is one of Sultana Safaar's closest allies and military advisors. It is rumored that her and Safaar have had an intimate relationship develop over the past few years, though none have the courage to speak on it. If so, such a relationship would violate the oaths of celibacy and factional loyalty that all wyverniers are made to swear upon induction.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Vistana is a wirey-muscled female white dragonborn. Like most white dragonborn, Vistana has a long, narrow snout and a crest of elongated, articulated shardlike scales. She has two dark grey horns curling from the rim of her forehead. They are ensconsed in steel caps. Her eyes are a sharp, vibrant pink that gleam with a predatory danger and are adorned with black kohl.
Vistana wears the typical black and orange uniform of a wyvernier—billowing trousers, tightly wrapped calves and tabi-clawed boots, black wool tunic and dark gambeson, steel gauntlets and orange scarf. Her head and neck are usually well-wrapped in cotton cloth.
On either hip, she carries a pair of fine dragonsbreath steel scimitars. Several other weapons, including a magical jabilya dagger can also be found hidden on her person.

Personal history
Hailing from a small village in the Lower Shanindar, Vistana grew up the daughter of poor shepherds. According the legend, she was tending her family's flock when she came upon an injured bone wyvern hatchling. Vistana brought the hatchling home and convinced her father to allow her to raise it. She named the wyvern Veygad, meaning "proud goat." After only a few years, Vistana had trained Veygad well-enough that she could ride it and used it to herd and protect the family's sheep.
However, during a routine inspection by a visiting tax collector, the wyvern was discovered and reported to the Qartagonian authorities. Because of the prohibitions on unregistered free riders, Vistana's parents were forced to sell Vistana and Veygad to the Order of the Air, the premier military order for Qartagonian wyvern riders. Such a move was highly unusual given Vistana's age but may have been motivated due to the recent loss of the Mashiqi Emirates during the First Pilgrim War.
As part of her induction into the Order of the Air, Vistana was neutered and lost all contact with her family and former community. She went on to train for the next few decades at both the Shadowcleft Academy in the Lower Shanindar and the Tiakken Citadel at Tsewa. Vistana quickly gained a name for herself after only a few years, leading daring raids into the Pilgrim States and participating in many dangerous missions in the Shanindar, Ghostdune Desert, and Marrow Desert. She soon became the youngest wingback in the Order's history, graduating from the Academy a full four years early.
Vistana and Veygad were first stationed at a castle in Sabreth on the northeastern Nioan coast. As the last civilized port between Qartagonian territory and the Shattered Strait, Sabreth serves as a critical outpost for anti-piracy patrols by both the Qartagonian navy and the Order of the Air. Vistana quickly made a name for herself, single-handedly dispatching pirate crews through cunning tactics and near-suicidal sorties. Eventually, her pale scales and habit of dive-bombing enemy ships earned her the moniker "the White Comet."
Her most famous exploit was sadly born out of tragedy. While accompanying a party of Qartagonian diplomats to the Mazabar Empire in Hakoa, their ship was ambushed by a flotilla from the Lazuli Coast city of Irizui. A powerful merchant lord there had contracted a number of the pirate ships attacked by the Qartagonians and now sought revenge. Vistana and Veygad were captured and brought to the city's fighting pits. Here, they were forced to duel, first separately and then as a pair, against a number of vicious combatants. Despite the favoritism shown by the Irizuese, the two managed to win 25 death matches over the course of 48 hours. Sadly, a final bout with two loxoda or elephant centaurs left Veygad mortally wounded. Hours later, the young wyvern expired and Vistana was dragged back to her cell.
After six months in Irizui, Qartagonian agents eventually managed to purchase Vistana's release. She returned back to Sabreth but was then sold back to the Order of the Air and was discharged to the Shadowcleft. After more than a year of recuperation, Vistana was granted leave to bond with a new hatchling. This baby wyvern she named Kolruvaak, meaning "kohl-black" after her black eye rings. The two remained at the Shadowcleft for ten years until riding Kolruvaak was "like an extension of one's arm".
It is said that as soon as Kolruvaak was ready, Vistana fled the Shadowcleft and flew solo across the accursed Ghostdune Desert, over the Shattered Straits, and along the Lazuli Coast until she reached Irizui. Under the cover of night, Vistana snuck into the merchant lord's palace, bound him, and carried him to Kolruvaak before flying back to Qartagonian territory. They flew all the way to the Tsewa Oasis, where it is said that Vistana gained entry to the wyvern nursery. Her she unbound the merchant lord and revealed that he was surrounded by a weyr of young, hungry wyverns. The wyvernlings devoured the merchant lord while Vistana watched. Since then, nearly all have known her by her new epithet, Vistana Cometscar.
Following this breach in protocol, Vistana was unable to command a price from any of the major Emirs. It wasn't until Safaar Qosaariya eld-Sadek became the Protector of the Niru Delta and requested more wyverniers that she was granted a commission. Vistana quickly proved herself to Safaar allowing Safaar to dispatch her rivals during their brief internecine conflicts. When it became clear that the question of the Pilgrim States could not be ignored, Vistana accopanied Safaar to Qartago for the Council of War. Upon declaration of war, Safaar named Vistana Master of the Air and Captain of the Wyvernry Corps.
Vistana led the initial invasion of the Mashiq, scouting the region for suitable footholds, making alliances with the Saggasu in the region, and raiding Pilgrim caravans and military outposts. She and her Corps were responsible for the taking of several key fortifications in the months prior to the arrival of the UQA and even managed to kill several key members of the chivalric orders that had become the backbone of the Pilgrim defense forces.
When the United Qartagonian Army arrived at the Gates of the Mashiq, Vistana played a critical role providing air support for the beleagured army. At the Battle of the Sulfur Sea, Vistana single-handedly took down an Iskendran airship, the Hippogorgon, a legendary vessel that had been flying since the days of the Palladian Empire. This allowed the UQA to establish a sizable camp in the hills north of Alameen and effectively deterred the Imperium of Iskendra from sending any more air support to the Pilgrim States.
In the following months, Vistana has participated in the Siege of Alameen, various battles at Ibelin and Tarak Castles, and assisted in the troop redeployment to Jeharoa. She now is embedded with the secondary Qartagonian force outside Jeharoa and is preparing the city for a siege.
