Gypsum Forest

"Kōs looked out over the forest of gypsum pillars and was overcome with the beauty of the place" — Faal Stahdim Ven

The Gypsum Forest, sometimes called the Boiledbone Valley or White Valley, is a geological depression located in the Western Marrow Desert of Nioa. The Forest is named for the its abundance of massive snow-white or cream colored monoliths. These are massive chalk rock formations that are textbook examples of ventifact and which have been created as a result of occasional sandstorm in the area. It is considered a sacred place among the indigenous Marrowmen, who believe the spirits of the elementals and their ancestors can be contacted by meditating on the white megaliths for several nights.

Geography

The Forest is the site of large white chalk rock formations, created through erosion by wind and sand. Many have been inscribed with pictograms and arcane symbols sacred to the Marrowmen who call this place holy.

Fauna & Flora

Little vegetation can be found in the Valley, as it receives less rain than almost any part of the Marrow. It serves as the refuge for various animals, including the gazelle; sheep; jackals; fennec foxes; sunblessed scarab; Scorpiox; ankhegs; dromedary camels; and sand cats.
