Fawn Isle

Geography

The Fawn Isle can appear quite intimidating from afar. It features rocky shores that threaten to fracture the hulls of ships that dare get too close. The island does have three serviceable points upon which a ship may anchor off shore close enough to shuttle passengers via tenders. One shore is on the North East, the second is on the North West bay, and the last being on the South West coves. In between those landing points are sheer rocky cliff faces that reach up to a hundred feet high in some areas.   To reach the island's interior may require someone to traverse narrow canyons and steep inclines until finally arriving on the steady sloping plateaus. The interior of Fawn Island is home to dense forests of spruce, firs, and pines. Some of the lower lands of the island have become swampy through centuries of trapped water that is barely not enough to flow back the surrounding sea.

Fauna & Flora

Typical flora and fauna one might find in the boreal systems of North America. Plus MAGIC!

History

The Fawn Island was, historically, under it's own sovereignty. This was many centuries ago. It's last ruler, Lord Elyssar, was rather well respected. He was especially well regarded in Stagkeep, the two territories shared a harmonious relationship. He was on such good terms with Stagkeep, that when it's lord called for aid he did not hesitate to dedicate himself to the fullest.    Lord Elyssar did one day return to his homeland of Fawn Isle. His body was carried across the waves back to the island so he could be buried in the tombs of his forefathers. In recognition of his distinguished service, the tradition became that the bodies of those from Stagkeep would follow their great defender by making a similar pilgrimage when they passed along.    Rule of the Fawn Isle then fell to his wife Lady Elyssar, who already served as de-facto leader while her husband was away. After her brief dominion ended in disgrace, Stagkeep annexed the Fawn Isle. Since then rulers of Stagkeep were declared the stewards of the island. Unfortunately, the stewards have failed the island and left it without leadership. In it's absence, legend has it, a great tragedy befell the island.    The people of the island were eventually forced to leave. None of have attempted to make a life on the island since then. The island's only new residents are the corpses of those from Stagkeep who maintain the old tradition of following the Lord Elyssar, even in death.   And so, Fawn Isle remains uninhabited to this day... So they say.
