“So, what happens next?”
“Because, O’noble adventurer, you have to know that stories are alive. But what are stories? You see, stories are often mistaken for experiences. It is said that our lives are the sum of our experiences and this may certainly be true of you or I. But our lives aren’t defined by stories, rather stories live their own lives. They become lessons, and then lessons become legends. Stories are made of something rather different than experiences, however. All stories are made up of choices! Our stories can, therefore, be defined as the sum of our choices. Now you understand how powerful choices can be…”
“Why does this matter? Well, it matters because I have a great big World trapped in this brain of mine and the only thing that can satiate its perpetual hunger is stories! It eats stories the way a troll eats villagers. If I don’t feed it then, surely as a song on Tuesday, it will consume my mind and drive me mad…”
“ I’ve named it Histaeria.”
“You see, I used to be able to manage this World easily enough on my own… But alas! I am no longer the man I once was. As I’ve grown older, I’ve started to run out of stories to feed it. That’s why I need You!”
“So here’s what we’ll do… I’ll simply take you to Histaeria. All you have to do once you get there is start making a whole bunch of choices. It’s that easy! I’ll bet you make so many choices; small ones, big ones… Really big ones! With any luck, you’ll make a decent enough story that maybe Histaeria won’t make me go completely insane or It’ll take us both.”
“In Histaeria, you can be anyone you choose! But beware, this World is vast and not for the faint of heart. Histaeria will test you. It is constantly probing for weaknesses. Only the most capable Adventurers have their choices lead them to become a Legend.”
“Well, O’ noble adventure, the choice is yours… Shall you feed the world of Histaeria or shall it threaten to consume you as well? We can arrive at this answer, together. All you have to do is answer the question.”
