Azrael in Abrahamic lore is normally depicted as an angel that was assign to carry the souls of the recently departed to the afterlife after being the sole angel willing to gather the materials to create humanity from the hordes of the devil. In regards to texts and files on them paints a similar story as they are described to be the Celestial in charge of their reaper department and interacts with mortals frequently. Most races that are aware of the paranormal aren't particularly fond of the Celestial's but state that their forefathers though always spoked fondly of Azrael as they were described as being polite and rather respectful towards them. Trait that's not normally associated with with their kind, especially after 'Holy Examination.' Any modern sightings regarding them is far from few, with many of them not aligning well as they give rather different descriptions of the being. It's speculated that either these are separate reaper class spirits but the encounters however, still refer to them all as Azrael. This has led to a new theory that could be that Azrael might use different forms whenever they have to interact with mortals, possibly to help them cope with their passing or near death rather then fight the ineviatble.
