Sure there are rich mines in the hills, but between the wild elves in the hills and the goblin tribes in the valleys it's hard to get to anything from here. Government

The town is controlled by an 'elected' governor, however this election is often corrupt and paid for, so no actual vote is needed.

Defences

The tall, Iron capped palisade walls protect the town from outside attack, however there are also numerous mercenary groups operating within the town, protecting it and (loosely) policing it's streets.

Infrastructure

Rich mines and timber operations feed resources in to the town, however no effective operations are within a days journey of the town. This means that there is a lucrative transport business in town as well.

Guilds and Factions

Many mercenary groups opperate within the city.

The large Orphanage of the city operates with civic funding, and provides food and beds for the cities numerous homeless children. Children without a proper family name are given the honorific last name 'Woods' in homage to the cities timber industry.

Geography

The cold, temperate forests of the area, bordering on tundra offer vast expanses of hill and valley broken by forest and snowy fields.
