Kemet

Kemet is one of the oldest countries in the world, and one of the first to have a Living God . Possibly the first - he was certainly the oldest during the Dragon Wars. This was one reason why the world was shocked when The Little Dragon , through means still a mystery to most, managed to murder the Eternal Pharaoh in a dark ritual, drawing on his connection to bring a servant of the Leviathan into our world (see The Dark Pharaoh). The ritual not only killed the Living God, but reached through him to all those who participated in his worship, killing over 90% of the population of Kemet, which was estimated at 5 million souls. The death toll would have been even higher, if the surviving adults (many of whom were Albion tourists - the Eternal Pharaoh encouraged tourism and Kemet had good relations with Albion) had not rapidly organized to save and protect the many children too young to be engaged in worship of the Pharaoh. This event (dubbed 'The Kemet Calamity' in the papers) triggered the formation of The Mu Confederation , and ultimately led to the meteor strikes that destroyed the Little Dragon's capital in Carovingia  and ended the Dragon Wars.   Since the wars, Kemet has been protected by Albion forces, and is functionally an Albion puppet state. The Empress has promised to hand over rulership to the orphans of Kemet when they come of age, but the presence of Albion troops in Kemet has been a sore point for the Mu Confederacy for most of the last decade. Another sore point - the many Albion archaeologists who have taken the opportunity of the Calamity to investigate the famous tombs and pyramids of Kemet - some say they are seeking ancient thaumaturgical secrets on the behalf of the Albion crown.
