Academy of Lorsen
The Academy in Lorsen is the largest academy in Salternia and where anyone of higher birth or wachieved status will start their further education. Students who show great potential will often be invited to continue their studies at the Imperial Academy, an invitation not a single student has ever refused. This circumstance places the Lorsen Academy and the Imperial Academy in sort of an onesided rivalry. If one's goal is to be someone of name and status in Salternia attending the academy is a must. Though attendance of the Imperial Academy onky benefits in the wider radius of the empire and if working in international affaires is one's goal.
Several families like the Vankrellens, Arlstaphs or Gannendars who frequently antagonize each other over status and prestige in lots of different fields will also try to gain the upper hand at sponsoring the academy, although it has to be recognized that one single donour would never suffice in supporting such a large organization.
The Lorsen Academy also lives off the goodwill of the Emperor, as the Imperial Crown finances them in large capacities, despite having the Imperial Academy to look out for as well. Seemingly the notion behind this is that a healthy amount of competition furthers the quality of education at both institutions.

The Academy is an important and influential organization in Salternia. For example it is considered an honour to be invited to the anual new year's feast, which always takes place on the vernal equinox during the months of Lengzir.
