Gynia

Gynia is the ocean and mother to all who dwell within her, and her endless wrath churns the sea and mortal men beg for her to still.

The Ever Raging Current, Mother of the Ocean, Queen of Theeth, Mistress of cruel wind.

Gynia is an Ancient and terrible god, her anger is legendary and forgiveness is not among her traits. Legends have it that it was not always so, that once she was gentle god, one that bore love for all creatures, for all things according to the scriptures came from the seas, it is said that Gynia is older than most gods, that she hails from before the coming of the celestials, when it was primal and unshapen she was there, her great oceans trashing against the lands, protecting its fragile life from the fires of the world above. Now however she is only known to those of the surface as a terrible omen, one you appease to protect yourself against her wrath, but those that give themselves unto the sea will find its mother a caring soul bound in violence.   Gynia is not without a heart, for once the mortal man Antia begged for her to spare his people so she did, she took him as a husband for his caring soul, and bound him in chains so that he would suffer in their place at her side forever.   In the ancient struggle between the Celestials and the primordial it is well known that Gynia was among the few they could not break and would not bow, having even drowned and nearly killing Sagaron according to elven scripture. Thus it was only by the hard efforts of Karlk that peace was made between the heavens and the sea, though the bad blood still resides between them, that only the River itself could ever mediate between the two domains.

Worshippers on land

Most who worship Gynia do so out of fear, they worship her so that she may spare them her wrath, some however give themselves to her wholly, and may find that though she is sparse in love for those who dwell upon on land, she may yet give them her aid, in exchange for sacrifice and adoration towards her domain.

Worshippers of the ocean

Those sentient enough for active worship beneath the waves know Gynia very differently than those on land, to them she is a caring and tentative mother, aiding them in all things, she worshipped for protection, love, and fertility.

Aspects

The Raging Current

Best known to those who dwell on land is Gynia's tempestuous anger, what else could one feel when those outside of your domain constantly slaughters your children to feed their avaricious appetite. She lashes out with great storms and unceasing waves, only application and pleading can appease her great anger, by begging understanding and necessity can her heart be calmed, but she always demands in kind, if one is to take from the sea, something must be given unto it.

Queen of the Seas

Gynia is the undisputed ruler of the oceans or at least the only goddess who remains. Within her vast domain, she is hailed as the great mother and supreme god. It is she they reverence to above all, for she is their creator and protector. For the Queen of the seas is kind caring for her subjects, blessing them with fertility, bounty, and long fruitful lives. But even so, she is a primordial god, death runs in her veins, and often her subjects fight and kill another, for that is the cycle of life, and she will not interfere in such affairs.
