Fort Rast
Fort Rast, a stout fortification built at the edge of the Rast Lowlands, was once a key defensive outpost in southern Teros. Positioned to guard the approach into the region’s more fertile lands, the fort overlooks the desolate plains of the Wastes. Fort Rast’s imposing stone walls and central keep, though battered and weathered by the War of Salvation, have been largely restored by its new master, the ruthless warlord Labriddan Bodsamm.
Following the war, Bodsamm took control of the abandoned fort, consolidating his power in the region. A hulking brute of a man with a reputation for greed and cruelty, he commands a gang of loyal thugs and enforces his rule over the local settlements with an iron fist. Despite the nominal presence of the Peacekeepers in the region, they have been unable - or unwilling - to remove him, allowing Bodsamm to rule Fort Rast unchallenged.
The fort’s location near the trade routes of the River Rast and the surrounding lowlands makes it a prime base for launching raids against nearby towns such as Pennon and Stolmon Ford. Merchants and caravans passing through the area are frequent victims of his gang’s extortion schemes. Those who refuse to pay Bodsamm‘s ‘protection fee’ often find their goods stolen or their wagons mysteriously disappearing in the night. The local populace despises him, but fear of retribution keeps any would-be rebels silent.
Despite his brutish exterior, Labriddan is a shrewd operator. He maintains a wary alliance with several of the warlords of the Wastes, such as Horam the Golden and Bora Greataxe, exchanging information and resources to keep his position secure.
