Castle Gennar
Castle Gennar commands the southern shores of Leviathan Bay, its grey stone walls standing sentinel against the glistening waters. Positioned southeast of the town of Gullhaven, this imposing fortress serves as a critical defensive and strategic hub for the Peacekeeper forces occupying Teros.
With its towering battlements and solid, weather-beaten structure, Castle Gennar is a formidible bastion visible to those approaching from both land and sea.
Constructed from the dark granite quarried in the nearby hills, the castle blends into the rocky coastline, its broad walls and multiple towers designed to repel invaders and withstand the fierce coastal winds. A large, central keep rises above the surrounding fortifications, providing a commanding view over the bay. Below the keep, a broad courtyard offers space for drills and musters, while underground chambers store weapons, provisions, and the ill-gotten gains of those who align themselves with Captain Nonyth Chasrinn.
Captain Chasrinn, now in her mid-fifties, has held Castle Gennar since the end of the War of Salvation. Hardened by the brutal campaigns she waged during the war, she has long since abandoned any pretence of honour or duty, becoming a ruthless and calculating figure. With a mind as sharp as her sword, Chasrinn has turned Castle Gennar into a nexus of corruption, drawing from the wealth and resources of the occupied territory. Her network of contacts extends far beyond the castle’s walls, weaving through the underbelly of Gullhaven and spreading into the surrounding towns and villages.
Under her command, Castle Gennar has become more than a military outpost. It is a den of corruption, where bribes, blackmail, and extortion are the true currency. Chasrinn’s links to the smuggling rings in Gullhaven allow her to profit handsomely from the illegal trade that flows through the town’s hidden tunnels and secluded coves. Goods from across the archipelago pass through her hands, while those who fail to meet her demands often find themselves falling victim to ‘accidents’ at sea or disappearances that are never investigated.
The garrison at Castle Gennar, a force of seasoned Peacekeeper veterans and hand-picked thugs, is well aware of Captain Chasrinn’s dealings. Some are eager participants, sharing in the spoils of her schemes, while others remain silent out of fear or necessity. Any dissent is swiftly and brutally suppressed, leaving the commander’s authority unchallenged. The smallfolk in the region whisper of her cruelty and hunger for power, but most keep their heads down and avoid crossing her path. In Gullhaven, where the mayor is firmly under her thumb, Chasrinn’s word is law, and the town has become a vital link in her growing web of influence.
Recent developments have set her on edge, however. Reports of an increase in rebel activity, unexplained thefts from her warehouses, and the sudden appearance of strange symbols painted on walls in Gullhaven have led Chasrinn to believe that an organised resistance might be forming against her. The peace she has enforced for years now seems fragile, and she has begun to crack down harshly, ordering raids on suspected rebel hideouts and summarily executing anyone caught spreading dissent.
