Balsan-Jann

Balsan-Jann stands as a crumbling sentinel along the northern shores of Leviathan Bay.   Once a proud and imposing watchtower, it now lies in a state of ruin, its shattered walls and broken staircases serving as stark reminders of a more vigilant age. The tower, originally constructed to monitor maritime activity along this strategic coastal road, offered sweeping views of the bay and the surrounding hills. Its tall, stone structure—now partially collapsed—still manages to evoke a sense of grandeur, though the spiral ramp leading to its upper levels have long been lost to time and neglect.   Nature has begun to reclaim Balsan-Jann. Vines creep through the cracks in the weathered stone, and the wind whistles through gaping holes where walls once stood firm. Yet, despite its ruined state, the site retains a magnetic allure, drawing curious travellers and adventurous souls to its desolate perch.   The path leading to Balsan-Jann is overgrown and treacherous, winding through underbrush that encroaches ever closer to the tower’s base. The ground beneath is unstable in places, and careless footsteps can send loose stones tumbling down the cliffs to the sea below. It is said that one of the tower’s last commanders, a grim and suspicious man named Korran Drenn, hid something of great value within the tower’s foundations before abandoning his post during the War of Salvation. Whether this is a true account or merely one of the many legends that have sprouted around Balsan-Jann, none can say.   Despite its desolation, Balsan-Jann is not entirely abandoned. Occasionally, the tracks of furtive visitors - boot prints in the dirt or the faint scent of a campfire - suggest that the tower still sees some use. Local fishermen claim to have seen flickering lights within the ruins at night, though none dare approach. The Peacekeepers of Forbin, tasked with keeping the region under control, show little interest in the tower, dismissing it as just another relic of a war that ended long ago.
