Asren Tes

Asren Tes is an independent state on the island of Malaban of the southeastern cost of Great Forbin.
The tiny settlement is home to the Wizards of Asren Tes, a commune of mages who seek sanctuary from the chaos and strife of the world outside. While the island of Malaban formally belongs to the realm of Forbin, Asren Tes acts as an autonomous state - despite its tiny size and small population.
Built over seventeen hundred years ago, the structure is part-palace, part-fortress, and is perched atop high cliffs above the Sea of Fair Winds. Within its high curtain wall, buildings and towers of white stone rise. Many of these are topped with shining blue domes. Inside, courtyards and gardens contain tall cypress trees and pools.
Deep in the rock beneath Asren Tes are a network of caves, and it is rumoured that here the Wizards guard a powerful artefact. The passages are heavily warded, ensuring that none enter without permission.

Inhabitants

The commune is currently home to fewer than twenty mages, as well as a handful of servants and retainers. Wizards typically remain at Asren Tes for a number of years before returning to the outside world.
