The Craedan Royale Cocktail
The Craedan Royale is a mixed drink served in a rare few taverns across The Heartland and The Daggerbreak Isles. Inspired by The Craedan Royale, the fierce battle for the rule of Craeda for which the drink is named the same. And is a favorite of salty Pirates, hateful Reavers, and hardened Mercenaries from all over that manage to find it.
The drink first appeared officially in Ilea Realda, in a tavern that was destroyed under mysterious circumstances involving a Red Powder smuggling ring. Primarily as something of a dare among the more adventurous greenhorn mercenaries. The drink would be mixed, served, and the one that ordered it would either cough it back up, pass out, or simply die of a shock to the system. But a rare few are able to drink it and withstand it's onslought. There had once been a story that followed the mixed drink, but it's details have long been forgotten as the tales tellers take matters into their own hands and add or amend its finer points.
Some have said it originally came from Vyrantis. An Orcish mercenary was upset because of a recent split with his sweetheart. He demanded a mixed drink that would destroy his mind for a night. The Barkeeper was hard pressed to piece together a drink that would spare him the ire of the green skinned beast in front of him. So the Barkeeper cobbled together some of the most harsh spirits he could find from off of his shelf. As well as the newly arrived Kofa from across the Sea. But the Barkeeper felt it wasn't strong enough, and threw in a pinch of Red Powder he had hidden away for some extra coin. He mixed them together and served it right then and there, and the Orc drank, and then forgot who he even was.
Others say it began in Craeda, made by survivers of the titular battle in a frenzied tribute to their fallen friends. Only that tale says that rather than forgetting anything, the mercenaries began reliving the battle right there in the tavern. They drew their swords and began hacking and slashing away without any thought, notice, or care for the innocents they may or may not strike.
The variations go on and on for years. Adding to the mixed drinks mystique and allure to the would-be thrill seeker.
