Versatile-Military-Formation (VMF)

The Versatile-Military-Formation is an ever-evolving formation used by armies of the Heimland to fight their enemies. The style has evolved over a period of time, and its most common relative is the Skiritai.

Composition

Manpower

A small VMF may consist of about 200 men, with about 500 reinforcements.

Equipment

Equipemtn ranges from simple armor to complex battle-suits.

Weaponry

Weapons range from race to race, depending on technological advancement. The most common weapons in a VMF are swords and shooting-weapons (guns, arrows etc.)

Vehicles

Typically S.W.A.Ves and horses.

Structure

The command structure relies on the leader, who will lead the charge and shape the way his army forms a VMF. Whether the army is bigger or smaller, victory depends on the leader and his flexibility in the heat of battle.

Tactics

Tactics of a VMF may range from a shield-wall to a full-on berserk-charge. In the end, it is all about outsmarting the enemy.

Training

Typical training from the ages of 10-15 is required. Education on battle-stratagems and formations is also necessary.

Logistics

Logistical Support

Typically the Tortuga (the group of soldiers on the outer-rings) must support the fighters on the inside. The Tortuga is the first line of defense, a VMF would collapse if the Tortuga was broken.

Auxilia

Air-strikers, marine-units and arboreal-units (used exclusively by Yea'haa'weh) are common reinforcements. Foot-soldiers are also common.

Upkeep

A few thousand Stone for a small VMF.

Recruitment

It all depends on the race using the VMF and their views on gender, height, nationality and mutations (cyborgs and Ghosties).

History

Major battles from the wars of the Old Folk and the Yea'haa'weh to the conflicts of the common people and Drekkin.
