Children of Deimos

According to the Children themselves, their prophet Abraham Gray was granted a divine vision by their god Deimos on June 12th, 2004. Gray was a foreman working for Volkov Industries on Mars' moon of Deimos, overseeing the production of industrial mining drills primarily intended for the work on Mars.   Divine vision or not, Gray began preaching what he called the truth of the universe. The beliefs of the Children can be described as a dark and twisted version of Greek Mythology. The Children assert that Gray had never been taught the "False Truth" version of Greek Myth in schools. Instead they say that he knows only of the names of the Gods through the visions they granted him.

Spreading the Word

Gray had awakened, possibly without fully realizing it, a latent talent for Spiritsinging and was able to learn how to leverage this "Divine Gift" to grow his new cult. He made people see his words as more convincing than they would otherwise be and was able to demonstrate miracles to them to prove his claims. At this time, matters of the Spirit World were not well understood by humanity at large. The workers of Deimos did not have any knowledge of how the Spirits around them could be influenced with the right training or talent.   Gray pushed his flock to begin pushing past their normal limits and increasing productivity in his factory, knowing that doing so would allow him to exploit the company's greed to spread his word across Deimos. He was right. The Children worked as hard as they physically could in preparation for The Day of Reckoning.

The Day of Reckoning

On May 9th, 2005 Gray delared that the long-awaited Day of Reckoning had come. What commenced came to be known as The Deimian Atrocity. Every factory on Deimos was mostly staffed by cult members. All non-members were rounded up and scarificed in profane rituals. Their bodies consumed afterwards and their bones used to decorate new altars from which to venerate their gods.   From time-to-time the cult would abduct the crews of the ships that would deliver parts and supplies or pick up completed products. They would replace the crew with members of the cult. The company either did not notice or did not care. 6 months later a man named Karim Al-Jirari was abducted from one such ship, unfortunately for the cult, this was the son of an exectutive and the company began an investigation.   The company attempted to kill off all members of the cult they could, but they had already spread too much to be fully contained and all of the important leadership had fled far from the Sol System by the time the first bullets were fired.

Practices and Beliefs

The Children of Deimos can be identified by their facial tatoos. Every member, once fully inducted, declares their soul in service to one of the Ancient Greek gods. The name of the god they declare themselves to is tatooed on their face, in a semi-circle around their right eye in Greek. Deimos' name is reserved only for those chosen by cult leadership for a leadership position and Zeus, being viewed as the false head of the pantheon, is banned entirely.   They attack any non-believers they are able to without over-exposing themselves. They prefer live captives, but will kill without hesitation to avoid any witnesses getting away. All bodies, living or dead, are brought to their hidden bases. Anyone who is dead will immediately be consumed and their bones used for gruesome displays. The living are put through the worst experiences the twisted minds of their captors can conjure. Any that can be converted into a true believer by the assessment of the base's leadership is inducted into the cult. Any who are deemed unworthy are kept to be used as sacrifices when the time is right for such a ritual.
