Deimian Atrocity

In 2005, The cult known as the Children of Deimos sacrificed and consumed the remains of all the non-beliver workers present on Mars' moon of Deimos. The cult began abducting and replacing the crew members of ships sent by their employers at Volkov Industries to bring supplies and/or pick up completed products. This activity was not discovered for 6 months when an investigation was launched following the disappearance Karim Al-Jirari, the son of an executive of the company that was present on one of these ships.
These events saw the attempted destruction of the cult by the company, but many members including their leader escaped using stolen ships. By the time the company was aware of the darker aspects of the cult, they had already spread to both the moon of Phobos and Mars itself. It is also theorized that members of the cult had left on trade ships bound for colonies, many not under the rule of the company.
Volkov Industries has actively tried to cover-up these events. Forging fake records of industrial accidents to hide the missing persons and spreading false rumors of the cult's origins. The cult themselves operate in the shadows, they enjoy exploiting the cover-up to mask their own activites.
