Michael & Scout Experiment
The Michael & Scout experiment, initially conducted by Sir Michael Walton and Sir Scout Ernest and later replicated by multiple scientists, established that Chimeric Matter consisted of pure energy. How the chimeric matter retains its appearance is a mystery, but it is certain that a source of energy is required to sustain the appearance.
Complexity
The experiment involved a suspended steel sphere 10cm in diameter consisting of two halves that were joined by screws with walls 1cm thick. The object to be examined is placed and sealed inside the sphere and suspended by dampeners intended to minimise interference.
After a set amount of time, the sphere is opened and the state of the object is documented. In all cases the object had faded or entirely disappeared. The faded objects quickly regained their former appearance upon release from the sphere.
After attaching thermometers to the sphere it was observed that the object was emitting energy and heating up the sphere, leading many to believe that the objects 'live off' surrounding sources of energy such as light or wind.

Discovery
It was discovered that Chimeric Matter fades or disappears entirely when isolated from external forces.
By measuring the energy released from the object, models have been created for calculating the potential energy stored in a volume of chimeric matter.
It was found that most of these objects were hollow, reducing the amount of potential energy in the object considerably.
