Queen's Principle

The Queen's Principle is an ancient ship building tradition dictating that all ships of a certain size shall be built with at least one more mast than strictly necessary. The tradition stems from a time when worship of the Queen of All Seas was more common, as the faithful could gain the blessing of full wind in all sails regardless of weather. The tradition is still practiced many places around the world still, even if the meaning of having an extra mast is lost.
