Knight
A Knight is the title that is a granted by anyone who is a Baron or Higher. A knight is not a noble title, per say, but one that is equivalent to a particularly treasured courtier. A Typically knight can be a rural or city figure, but is usually a hero of some kind to the area where they belong. While not always wealthy, they usually have enough for a modest home or residence in the area where they are knighted. A knight need not even be married, but few seek lives of celibacy and most have at least some form of companionship, whether it be a spouse or their squire.
Requirements
Most Knights are granted the title by earning the favor of a Noble, or having some modicum of skill or talent. Particularly favored Non-wizards and courtiers are granted the title to make up for the shortcomings of a lack of arcane talent.
Appointment
A knighting is granted by the action of a noble that is at least a Baron.
Responsibilities
A Knight of Halruaal usually a local hero and commander of troops. In the region where they are knighted, they are expected to lead military or guard personnel. At the very least it is expected that they guard those of greater heraldry.
Benefits
The title is a way for courtiers and grantees to have some standing among nobles. While not on equal footing, they are at least acknowledged for their skill and talent.
