Ignitus

“The Phoenix in the Flame”, “The Lord of Light”, “Dawnbreaker”.

Ignitus is the god of Fire, the Day, and honor. He governs the concepts of passion, strength, and nobility. Church Doctrine depicts him as the embodiment of Fire with the group known as the Cardinals. In that group he sits on the Pillar of the South. Temples of Ignitus exist in every city, town, and village with the rest of the Seven; however, he is also honored among the military and security force as their patron god, particular within House Odinson.

Like his brother Azotyr, Ignitus is an extremely popular god. His ideals around honor and chivalry are the quintessential aspects favored in the paladin and romantic codes. As a staunch advocate of law and inherent nobility, many Paladins within the Church of the Seven favor Ignitus as their primary god. These followers in turn work well with the clerics and followers of Azotyr, the god of strength and war.

Limits paladins to the Oaths of Conquest, Crown, and Vengeance.

Tenets of Faith

1. No Mercy for the Wicked. Ordinary foes might win my mercy, but my sworn enemies do not.
2. Strength Above All. You shall rule until a stronger one arises. Then you must grow mightier and meet the challenge, or fall to your own ruin.
3. Law. The law is paramount. It is the mortar that holds the stones of civilization together, and it must be respected.
4. Courage. You must be willing to do what needs to be done for the sake of order, even in the face of overwhelming odds. If you don't act, then who will?

Break upon the force of iniquity, rout them and drive them from you with fire, frost, and lightning.  A society of perfect order is needed to protect and serve the citizenry.

Identifying Characteristics

The Church’s depictions of the Fire God show a broad man dressed for war, surrounded by a glowing aura of red and gold. Ignitus appears to his followers physically or in their dreams as either as a alabaster skinned human wearing Plate armor, wreathed in flames or as a giant Phoenix (Fire bird). His eyes glow with divine light, and those who meet them are subject to a burning righteous rage (if good or neutral aligned) or with feelings of overwhelming shame (if evil aligned).

Personal history

Before his ascent to Godhood, Ignitus was a powerful Magister and general along with his brother, Azotyr. Ignitus was the defacto head of House Odinson when they arrived in Halruaal. In terms of experience and understanding of magic, Ignitus was the more knowledgeable than his brother, Azoytr, whereas his brother held more raw power.

The Wizard, Ignitus was well liked among his people. When he and the clan now known as House Odinson came across, he stood as the vanguard of their raiding part. The initial war between House Odinson and Clan Oni was due in part because of his honor and nobility. This was in stark conflict with the secretive and double-meaning indicative of the Pre-Oni clans.

Ignitus' desires within Halruaal was to purge his immediate land of weakness and corruption. A desire most at odds with Shinatobe - the de facto head of Clan Oni at the time. But by his bearing, he reigned as a king, standing as an equal with the leaders of House Udaku before he agreed to serve the Royal House.

Sexuality

As a noble and romantic style hero, Ignitus was a lover of women. Though his many affairs ended due to an arraigned and committed marriage with a lady from the founders of House Aetius.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Ignitus was a leader worthy of both titles of general and king. He was a brilliant war tactician and peace time leader, capable of bringing the early natives under heel before Lady Shinatobe took over their war effort. Still, his prowess in battle led to many victories within the span of their war and ultimately carved out a tamed portion of the Storm Coast in the North where the House now resides.

But aside from war, Ignitus was a masterful leader and governor. Although, House Odinson eventually became a loyal House under House Udaku, the two Houses met each other as equals. Ignitus formed lasting alliances through various marriages. His marriage firmly solidified his relationship between House Odinson and House Aetius. His arranged marriage between his brother, Azotyr, and House Udaku's patriarch, Terrac'oko, established the alliance between House Odinson and House Udaku.

Intellectual Characteristics

Ignitus is by no means the smartest of the Halruaalan Pantheon, but he is well versed between the physical and mental attributes of leadership (combining moderate strength of both into well-rounded strength in all).
