Godefroy Dufresne
Duke Godefroy of House Dufresne
Personal History
Godefroy was born a commoner in the year 2728 to a merchant family operating out of the major southern city in Faladrion called Dalansvale. He received a very thorough education despite his station due to his family's great wealth. He reportedly took to his studies like a fish to water and excelled in most areas but most particularly in areas that concerned economics and trade. Almost immediately after finishing his schooling, Godefroy secured a position as a trade representative in a minor trading office in Dalansvale. Thanks in no small part to his family's connections and his own skills he rose quickly to become the royal trade minister for Dalansvale. His meteoric rise did not go unnoticed by the then King of Faladrion Phillipe II. He was brought to the royal court in 2753 to serve as an personal advisor to Phillippe but also as a tutor, when he came of age, to the new heir Thibault III. For the next several decades, Godefroy served both the former and current king eventually, under Thibault III, rising to the position of Steward. After serving Thibault for some time, Godefroy was ultimately rewarded for his life of public service by the creation of a title especially for him: Duchy of the Gap which replaced the former, mostly defunct titles, in the area of Aebeald's Gap and granted the entirety of the area to Godefroy. Godefroy kept his family name for the name of his new noble house: Dufresne. More recently, Duke Godefroy has overseen the construction of his new seat of power in Myrkan and helped bolser the resettlement and reconstruction efforts occurring throughout Aebeald's Gap.
