Thibault III
King Thibault, third of his name, of House Barreau
Personal History
Thibault was born in 2745 as the sole heir to the previous King Philippe II. As a child, Thibault was shaped most notably by the austerity of the Court and the nation that followed the end of the Great Northern War. He, as was typical of members of his station, was shuttled from castle to castle with tutors to educate him both about the fundamental elements of rulership as well as the more esoteric, intellectual pursuits such as music and philosophy. He was seen as an attentive but average student by his tutors with his main interest seeming to lie with history especially tales of the Great Northern War. Thibault, upon reaching majority at 13, spent a significant amount of time attached or apprenticed to his father's councilors and to his father himself. Due to this, Thibault ultimately avoided much political intrigue on his ascension to the throne following the death of his father in 2770. Following his coronation, Thibault devoted himself primarily towards the reconstruction and resettlement of Aebeald's Gap and has made several visits to the region which was in stark contrast to his father who, for reasons unknown, seemed to avoid the region or its mention entirely. The King's interest was sufficient to create a new duchy in the area and appoint one of his more competent, non-noble advisors, Duke Godefroy Dufresne, to rule the area. In more recent years, he has spent most of his time around Childarin and suffers from a reputation as a man of nothing but "parties and hunts".
