Shimmering Ambrosia

A nectar-like drink, Shimmering Ambrosia, provides a flavor of otherworldly sweetness. This drink comes from the depths of the ocean where the Merfolks use their water magic to grow the algae needed for the sauce and the gardens of the Elves where they grow the fruits contained there in.

Shimmering Ambrosia Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of mixed fruit (such as moonberries, starfruit, dream cherries, and faerie peaches)
  • 1/4 cup honey from an ancient grove
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 1 TBSP freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 TBSP Shimmering Magickal Algae sauce (made from carefully harvested and processed algae by the Merfolks)
  • Fresh mint leaves, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Elven fruits by washing them thoroughly and removing any seeds or pits. Chop larger fruits into bit size pieces while leaving smaller ones whole or halved.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the mixed Elven fruit, honey, lemon zest, lemon juice, and vanille extract. Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir gently to combine the ingredients.
  3. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce heat to low and let cook for about 10-15 minutes, or until the fruits have softened slightly and released their juices. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  4. Once the fruits have reached desired consistency, remove the saucepan from the heat and let the compote cool for a few minutes.
  5. Transfer the compote to serving bowls or glasses, allowing it to cool completely.
  6. Drizzle the Shimmering Magical Algae Sauce (recipe below) over the compote, creating a mesmerizing purple swirl that shimmers and sparkles, adding a touch of enchantment to the dish.
  7. If desired, garnish with a fresh mint leaves for a burst of aromatic freshness and visual appeal.
  8. Serve the enchanted Shimmering Ambrosia as a delightful dessert or a breakfast treat. Savor the flavors of the mystical fruits enhanced by the magical essence of the Shimmering Magical Algae Sauce.
  9. The ambrosia will remain safe to eat for at least a week if kept in a cool, dry place.

These sound delicious, but how do you mix them underwater? Unless they come to the surface to make them, or do they have dome cities or something that they use?

The Shimmering Magickal Algae is grown underwater outside the Merfolk city. They trade it to the surface world for things that they can't make underwater. The ambrosia is made by those on the surface. It's a delicacy, as the algae is rare.
