Pegasus Species in Hall of Doors - Ustehall | World Anvil

Pegasus

Pegasi are a unique and mystical species endemic to Ustehall. They are best known for their exception ability to communicate with other pegasi, and with their chosen companions. These winged equines, discovered by the Elven Mage Eli Windwhisper, have integrated seamlessly into society. Their flight capacity and ability to carry heavy loads makes them ideal for transporting cargo. Pegasi have also demonstrated a distinct bond-forming trait, choosing individual companions to form profound connections. once a pegasus selects a companion, it transitions from cargo transport to an almost familial role with its chosen partner, emphasizing the depth of these bonds.   Telepathic communication is the cornerstone of Pegasus interaction, a sensory ability that transcends the barriers of physical language. This capability allows them to exchange thoughts, feelings, and ideas instantaneously, nurturing relationships that thrive on unparalleled levels of understanding. The criteria that a Pegasus uses to choose its companion remain an enigma, adding an air of intrigue and wonder to these remarkable creatures.   Not only ar Pegasi recognized for their communication prowess, but they are also admired for their physical grace and strength. Their anatomy is tailored for both land travel and flight, displaying muscular builds and large, feathered wings. Ranging in various hues and patterns, their sleek coats and expressive eyes are a testament to their majestic and noble bearing. Despite their significant roles as cargo transports, these creatures are not exploited but respected. Their feathers, naturally shed, are collected for crafts, art, and magic. Any attempts to disrupt their unique companionship bonds are severely condemned.   In the annuals of history and lore, tales of heroic Pegasi and their companions abound. From the first known companion bond between Eli and Celestia to the numerous bonds formed over the years, these relationships have shaped the narrative of the Pegasus species. The intimate connection between a Pegasus and their chose companion is a sacred bond acknowledged with a simple ceremony, symbolizing the respect for the Pegasus' choice. I've been re-reading The Titan's Curse, so it was kind of exciting to find an article about pegasi! I love how close a pegasus becomes with whoever it bonds with, as well as the respect for the pegasus' consent.

Thank you. I wanted a postal animal. I didn't want a bird or bird-like creature. Remembering my history lesson and how the post was carried from place to place via horseback, I decided on the fantasy equivalent, Pegasi. Plus, they can fly!!!   Consent is a must! I'm thinking about making the Pegasi have a union too. Fair work for fair pay. I want my world to be realistic in that there are prejudices, but I want to show that they are being fought against.
