Orison of Departure Tradition / Ritual in Hall of Doors - Ustehall | World Anvil

Orison of Departure

Mytilias has a tradition that was once cherished, but it's now seen as outdated since the portal to Ustehall was closed. The "Orison of Departure" tradition was a common practice for those embarking on journeys to distant worlds through the portal.   Now, while some still hold to the tradition, it is seen as an archaic practice. Nonetheless, remnants of the prayer can be seen in some parts of Mytilias, especially in Bir Kofa. Scholars and historians gather at The Kofa Gini to recreate the ritual to keep the memory alive. This tradition stands as a tribute to the culture legacy of Mytilias. It's a remembrance of a long-lost connection between worlds through Ustehall.

History

Reciting the Osiron of Departure was an ancient tradition believed to offer protection and favor. Thus, making the journey through the portal safe.   The Mytilian culture was tightly woven around this practice. This allowed travelers to connect with their ancient roots and pay tribute to the guardians of Ustehall.   The portal has been dormant and the room destroyed for millenium, making the Orison of Departure meaningless. The portal has become a symbol of a past era for many people. They remember a time when the potential for exploration was unlimited, and the portals were a symbol of the interconnected realms.

Observance

The upper reaches of Kofa Gini tower were a popular spot for travelers during the days when the portal to Ustehall was still active. They would gather in the room with the portal to pay respect to the guardians of Ustehall, the Abalindi Beholo. Before entering the portal, it was customary for them to perform the solemn Orison of Departure.
