Adana Sihiri Crystals Material in Hall of Doors - Ustehall | World Anvil

Adana Sihiri Crystals

Summary

Magic can be stored in different object. How much depends on what the object is made out of and how well crafted the object is. Objects that use lesser materials and have faults will not only hold less magic, but may leak magic as well. Better quality materials and better crafting makes for a better container for stored magic.   The Adana Sihiri Crystals are the best for storing magic. They are natural crystals found in mines across the worlds of Ustehall and don't leak magic once the magic has been added. The only trick is that if you add too much magic to them, they will blow up. They come in five different colors: yellow, green, red, blue, and purple. Rarely, large growths of them can be found outside of a mine.   Mages collect Ambient Magic and infuse the crystal with it. These crystals can be used augment Personal Magick.

Properties

Material Characteristics

Empty Crystals
The empty crystals look like ordinary crystals with a slight magical sheen.
Filled Crystals
The magick filled crystal look like electrified crystals with a bright magickal sheen.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Empty crystals are inert and will shatter when hit with enough force. Filled crystals are magickal in nature. They will shatter if overfilled with magick or a hit with a god-like force.

Compounds

A crystal is a material whose constituents, such as atoms, molecules or ions, are arranged in a highly ordered microscopic structure. For Adana Sihiri Crystals these constituents are held together by magickal bond.

Geology & Geography

The Adana Sihiri Crystals are found within cave of a variety of materials. It depends on the color of the crystals. Red, for example, tend to be found in volcanic caves. Blue in underwater caves. Etc. However, there have been crystals of various colors found in caves that don't reflect their nature. Sometimes they can even be found outside a cave system.

Origin & Source

The crystals are the last remains of an Elder Dragon. The color corresponds to the color the dragon was in life. When each Elder Dragon dies, they find a cave where they take their last breaths. Once dead, the Elder Dragons' bodies disintegrate into a magical force that infuses the cave with magickal energy. This energy, over time, will turn into Adana Sihiri Crystals. The length of time it takes the crystals to form is based on both age and color of the Elder Dragon.

Life & Expiration

The number of times an Adana Sihiri Crystal can be filled with magick depends on the size and color of the crystal itself. A crystal that has never been filled will last until magick leaves the world. Over time, filling a crystal will cause small cracks in the structure of the crystal. Once the inner core has been breached, the next time a crystal is filled with magic, it will explode.

History & Usage

Everyday use

Adana Sihiri Crystals use depends on how much Ambient Magic is available in that world. For null and low magick world, they are mostly pretty paperweights or found in museums if they can be found at all. For medium magick worlds they can be used by the most powerful of mages. On high magick worlds, they can be used by all mages. And on extreme magick worlds, they can be used by everyone that isn't a Nulls.

Cultural Significance and Usage

The cultural significance of the Adana Sihiri Crystals depends solely on the race or ethnicity plus availability.

Industrial Use

For most worlds, the availability of the crystals means that there is no industrial use. However, on high and extreme magick world, industrial use is more likely. As they have more access to the crystal and more mages to fill them, the use of the crystals as a battery is more likely.

Refinement

Refinement can be done with Adana Sihiri Crystals, but it is more likely to cause fault in the structure of the crystal. That being said, the more available the crystals are, the more likely there are refined crystals. Most refined crystals are used as jewelry, lights, or currency.

Manufacturing & Products

The filled crystals are used as magick batteries, both by mages to enhance their magic and as batteries to power technology.

Reusability & Recycling

Adana Sihiri Crystals can be filled, used, and refilled. On high and extreme magick world, they are bought and sold as needed. Medium and low magick world tend to hoard them rather than selling them, especially if own by a mage that can refill them. Then, they are passed down through generations. On null magick worlds, the only Adana Sihiri Crystal that are available are ones that were brought there from other worlds. These usually end up in a museum or with a private collector.

Distribution

Trade & Market

It depends on the world as to how trade is handle. Each world is unique and will handle them differently. Every country in a world could change the way trade works.

Storage

Adana Sihiri Crystals that are filled or have been filled are almost indestructible. However, before they are filled for the first time, they are delicate and must be handled with care. Dropping one could shatter it. Magick reinforced, padded boxes are the best way to transport the crystals, though not all worlds know this.

Law & Regulation

Laws and regulations will differ depending on the country, world, and magick level. Some regulate the use and others don't. Some regulate the filling of the crystals, while others will regulate everything about them.
