Lord Usurper Kelka Akuzir

Lord Kelka Akuzir, 'the Usurper' of Kreniko, was a member of the Kreniko city gentry in the Vice-Kingdom of Mikena of the Empire of Zerua, who challenged Prince Mazaru Eramzir for the throne in a grand rebellion. Kelka alone had the insight to notice the Prince's connection and utilization of the Rot Plague as a source of magical power - and the boldness to actually challenge the Prince for this. Kelka's rebellion failed and he was imprisoned, his lands stripped of him.
The Akuzir family was once the dominant house and landowner in Kreniko's port districts (the Pearl Port and Crownport). More than other city gentry, the Akuzirs were close allies of the local Selkies and had connections abroad to foreign investments. This made them the wealthiest and most influential of the Mikenan houses. Now, of course, the failed rebellion has seen their holdings and investments seized and redistributed to more loyal subjects.
Kelka himself fought tooth and nail to lead the Akuzirs. The dynasty, despite its wealth, suffered greatly from the wars with the Kingdom of Esedeta and has very few members left. Kelka distinguished himself and was apprenticed to the Prince of the Vice-Kingdom, Prince Mazaru Eramzir himself. He had a difficult relationship with the sadistic prince - almost becoming heir before turning away to pursue happiness with the Akuzirs. 
After becoming his own man, Kelka settled in to grow his house. He formed a close friendship and romantic partnership with Lady Idala Norazir - though the two nobles did not marry for political reasons. While Kelka took a consort for show, he was uninterested in having biological children and adopted a promising young girl named Malwa. He and Idala parented Malwa the best they could, until eventually Kelka had to throw fortune and happiness away to challenge his former mentor for the throne. 
Kelka was freed by the Gods as a political ploy against the Prince.
