Charlotte "Charlie" McGrath
Charlotte "Charlie" McGrath is the eldest daughter of Declan and Camila McGrath, a mob boss in South Soffit, and the twin sister to Eddy McGrath. She handles the more covert side of her father's "family business", while Eddy covers the face of the business, and has been primed to take over after their father passes. Tough and tomboyish, Charlie keeps herself guarded and holds very few among her close counsel. She is one of eight children, with a very large extended family.
Charlie's father is currently very ill and bedridden, seemingly from a sort of magickal poisoning. She and Eddy are also working to discover who might be causing this. Current leads point to The Red Hand, as they also deal in moving magickal artifacts and Eddy has been dabbling in that realm for the past few years.

Personal history
Charlie's family has spent years cleaning up the streets of South Soffit, with her father acting as a bit of a Robin Hood-esque character to the people in this very poor district of Newfaire. Charlie rebelled against her mother's wishes for her to be the Lady of the the family, and at 12 years old began learning from her father how to take over the family business. From that point on, she began learning how to fight along with her schooling.
When Charlie was 16, her family life all but imploded as a result of a smear article written by Pierce Hunter. The article alleged that her father was having an affair with Natalie Blanc, a well-known owner of The Delicate Touch brothel in Red Lamp. Her mother was devastated and this lie nearly tore their family apart. As it turned out, Natalie Blanc is actually Declan McGrath's half-sister, making her Charlie's aunt. Charlie's grandfather had had a wandering eye in his youth.

Relationships
History
The McGrath twins are extremely close, but as different as night and day. Currently their father is deadly sick and while he is bedridden the twins govern on his behalf. Eddy handles the PR/political/legal side of the business while Charlie handles all the underground operations.
Shared Secrets
Charlie and Eddy are secretly poisoning their father to take over the family business together. They believe their father is holding them back and that they could do so much more good for the people of South Soffit. Once they can “prove” that The Red Hand is poisoning their father, they’ll be able to “heal” him and go to war.

Friend/Bully/Romantic Interest (Important)Towards Cyril "Cy" Barret
History
Cy and Charlie met when Cy's uncle, Arthur, was tutoring Charlie in reading. Unbeknownst to each other, they each have a crush on the other. Charlie has kept this hidden because, at first, she was afraid of how her father would respond. As a result, she often picked on Cy and bullied him, but also protected him from anyone else who would try to mess with him. Cy kept his own feelings hidden because he saw how tough Charlie was and thought that a girl like her would never want to waste her time with someone like him.
When they were 16, just before the smear article on her father came out, Cy became very busy with his studies at Briarbank College and would be going to archeological sites. Charlie had a pair of brass knuckles made for him, "so you can protect your weak-ass self."
Now, seven years later, they have been reunited as members of the Circle of Chaos & Ash. Neither is sure if or how to confront their lingering feelings for the other person.
Shared Acquaintances
Both Cy and Charlie are close to Cy's uncle, Arthur Hurley.
History
When Charlie was 12 and began learning how to take over the family business from her father, he hired Arthur Hurley to be her tutor, as she struggled with reading and dyslexia. Arthur’s patience and kindness got her through tough days then and the tough days of today. "No matter the problem with enough knowledge and ingenuity you can find an answer" is a quote that echos in her head anytime she runs into problem, though she has forgotten the end: "even if that means asking for help." He read her all of the classics and taught her how to combat her dyslexia, so she could read for herself. She became a voracious reader and a lover of history. She stopped showing up for her lessons around the time the smear article came out. Her last lesson was the last time she saw or spoke to him.
History
Pierce has done business with the McGrath family in the past, where they have opened doors for him during the course of his personal investigations, and he has written a few articles on the good work they do in South Soffit. However, seven years ago, Pierce wrote a smear article on Declan McGrath, Charlie's father, which nearly tore her family apart. She now bears a deep resentment and hatred towards him, and she is secretly plotting her revenge.
