Quoin

The name "quoin" refers to an ornate brickwork motif along the edge of a building, i.e. "a beautiful corner." Quoin also serves as the game's "beautiful corner" in showing a vertical slice of all features for testing. As such, Quoin has one of everything - each type of shop, potion, character race, etc.

Quoin, noun ˈkȯin ˈkwȯin 1 a: a solid exterior angle (as of a building). b: one of the members (such as a block) forming a quoin and usually differentiated from the adjoining walls by material, texture, color, size, or projection 2: the keystone or a voussoir of an arch 3: a wooden or expandable metal block used by printers to lock up a form within a chase

Need to add shops and faction-representative NPCs.

    • other shops
    • faction-representative NPCs.

The village of Quoin is found in Lugubria. It is precisely arranged—buildings, paths, and plants laid out in grid-like geometry that evokes an isometric, 16-bit sprite-based RPG, replete with evenly spaced flower pots, and tropey RPG options. This aesthetic is revealed to be a local cultural identity. The game itself is a first-person action RPG with immersive 3D traversal and minimal UI outside of combat.

  1. The player enters the village of Quoin (pronounced "coin") relatively early in play.
  2. Many items in shops are far overpriced for the player, due to their level.
  3. Warden of Quoin
  4. In gratitude, merchants lower their prices to about market rate. But in dialog, many make a point to remind you that they are doing you a favor.
